Katri Tikka is a Finnish harpist who earned her degrees from the Sibelius Academy (Master of Music), the Norwegian Academy of Music (Bachelor of Music), and the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Bachelor of Music Education). Check out her concert calendar for 2026.
Katri performs new music regularly. She gave the premiere of Timo Alakotila’s Harp Concerto as the soloist of Joensuu City Orchestra in 2023 under the baton of Anna-Maria Helsing. She is a member of the Estonian contemporary music ensemble Una Corda since 2025.
Katri is an active chamber musician and has performed in several festivals and the chamber music series of both Kuopio and Oulu City Orchestras. She has performed many major works for the harp, such as the Dances sacrée et profane and Trio for Flute, Viola and Harp by Claude Debussy, Introduction et Allegro by Maurice Ravel, Then I Knew ’t Was the Wind by Tōru Takemitsu and Sérénade by Albert Roussel. She has given the world premieres of chamber works by Teemu Halmkrona, Pasi Lyytikäinen and Nils Burgman, among others.
Beside Timo Alakotila’s Harp Concerto, Katri has performed harp concertos by Georg Friedrich Händel (both on the baroque and the modern harp), François Adrien Boieldieu, Camille Saint-Saëns (Morceau de Concert) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Concerto for Flute and Harp).
Beside classical music Katri plays folk, jazz and improvised music. She has performed on numerous festivals such as the Jazzkaar (Estonia), Pori Jazz and Turku Jazz (Finland), side by side with artists like Arttu Takalo and Josefiina Vannesluoma.
Katri has recorded the works of the Finnish harpist Lilly Kajanus Blenner for the Finnish Broadcast YLE.
As a baroque musician Katri has performed under the leadership of Anthony Marini and Clemens Flick, among others. She performed the Händel Concerto for Harp during the Festspelen i Piteå -festival with the Oulu Baroque Orchestra on a Italian style arpa doppia Cellini by Rainer Thurau. Together with soprano and recorder player Linnéa Sundfær Casserly she forms the duo Korppu ja muratti. The duo performs music by John Dowland, Barbara Strozzi, Giulio and Francesca Caccini and their contemporaries on period instruments.
Vocal music holds a special place in Katri’s heart, and she collaborates often with choirs and singers. Her repertoire includes not only the Ceremony of Carols and Canticle V – The Death of Saint Narcissus by Benjamin Britten, but also the Dancing Day by John Rutter and works by Gustav Holst, to name a few.
As an orchestral musician Katri has played as the visiting principal harp of the City Orchestra’s of Espoo (Tapiola Sinfonietta), Lahti, Kuopio, Oulu, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, Pori, Kemi and Turku as well as the Savonlinna Opera Festival Orchestra.
